Frequently asked questions about heat pumps
Does an air-to-air heat pump really heat in winter?
In Valencia's climate, yes — at 5–15 °C it works in its optimal zone with COP 3.5–4. The only requirement is sizing the heating load separately, which is exactly what our calculation does.
How much does heating with a heat pump cost?
As a guide: warming a 25 m² living room about 6 hours a day runs €15–25 a month depending on tariff — an equivalent electric radiator multiplies that by three or four.
Is this the same as aerothermal with radiators or underfloor heating?
No: air-to-water aerothermal feeds radiators, underfloor circuits and hot water and is a different installation — our parent company VELTORRA does those. Air-to-air heats through the AC units and is the fast, economical route.
Is my current split already a heat pump?
If it has a heating mode, yes. Its efficiency is another matter: units over 10–12 years old perform far below current ones — we measure yours and tell you with figures whether replacing pays.
What maintenance does it need?
The same as an air conditioner: an annual visit with filter and coil cleaning and pressure checks. With both winter and summer use, the yearly visit matters even more.
